A strange noise at dawn awoke me…
We had an astonishing wildlife encounter, when Mama lynx and her seven kittens decided to visit our back porch! I was awakened in the early hours by a strange noise outside, and upon investigation saw a couple of lynx kittens playing…

Tim Newton here… Alaskan both by birth and by choice, perpetually in reverent awe of Alaska’s astonishingly beautiful landscapes and wildlife. This is Rugged Alaska… a place where the raw grandeur of northern wilderness is honored and loved. Where lynx, moose, grizzlies, glaciers, mountain peaks and the northern lights are as likely to be seen from your back door as from your tent. My wife Cathy and I built this website to showcase the Alaska we love, along with occasional views of other beautiful locales. Special thanks to my wife, without whose energetic and inspired effort little of my work would likely be seen very far beyond my own computer screen!
